GENERAL UPDATE 2, RENEWALS, NEW SIGNINGS, PROMOTIONS, WORLD CUP AND A GOODBYE
This is the second general update of the season so if you missed the first just scroll back a couple of weeks to catch up.
WORLD CUP
Local boy Alejandro Hernández who is Spain’s sole referee at this years World Cup has been announced as the main official for the Brazil v Haiti match on Saturday morning at 1.30am Lanzarote and UK time. The other day he was the fourth official in Scotland’s 1-0 win.

PLAYOFF FINAL
Gran Canarian side UD Tamaraceite will be playing their second leg of the final this Sunday and hoping to reach RFEF 2 (Fourth Tier). In the first leg versus mainland side CD Guijelo they were trailing 2-0 but a 96th minute goal has given them hope and with strong home support they are in with a great chance.
Fellow Gran Canarian side Arucas CF will be first to be lending their support because if their neighbours were to be promoted this means they will have a reprieve from relegation as they filled the last automatic relegation position.
RENEWALS
26-year-old midfielder Dani González becomes the sixth UD Lanzarote player to pledge his immediate future with the club. The local lad is often underestimated but always so reliable. This will be Dani´s sixth season with the club.

Defensive midfielder Blas Álvarez joined the club in the second half of last season and started in all of the 17 matches that he played in. The 30-year-old defensive central midfielder enjoyed his time on the pitch and has fallen in love with the island and the club is delighted that he has agreed to continue.

NEW SIGNINGS
Dani Febles becomes the clubs third new signing though Dani is far from a stranger. The Venezuelan sadly left the club last season to the dismay of fans, players and management but the club are delighted to announce the return of the defender. The popular 35-year-old maybe in the latter years of his playing days but his attitude in training is exemplary and a great example to the rest of the squad. He has a wealth of experience and with his intelligence will be a huge asset.

Ale Gil is Lanzarote´s fourth new signing has plenty of experience in this category. The 29-year-old left footed centre back arrives from UD Villa Santa Brígida where he has spent 171 of his 202 matches for the Gran Canarian club. The powerful defender also has a goal or two in him. Last season in his 29 matches he netted on five occasions.

23-year-old Tobías Gastón has arrived from Fuerteventura side CD Herbania whom he has played with for the past seven seasons, three of those with their junior side. Originally from Argentina the right footed centre back is another defender who enjoys a goal. In his 31 matches played he also scored five times, all from set plays.

Dani Herrera also joins the club from CD Herbania and becomes the clubs sixth and latest new signing. The 23-year-old winger plays predominantly on the right and is known for his speed and attacking abilities but is also useful with his defensive duties. He played and started in all of his 28 matches last season and scored three goals.

PROMOTIONS FROM B TEAM
Nahuel Del Castillo has been rewarded with a first team contract after a successful season with the B team. His performances for the B side earned the 22-year-old the chance to train with the first team. The versatile winger can play on both sides of the pitch and played and started on four occasions at the back end of last season though he was used as a right back.

Goalkeeper Aythami Rodríguez trained all of last season with the first team under the guidance of the vastly experienced and Lanzarote´s player of the season Ruyman. The 22-year-old has a promising future ahead of him and made his league debut in the final match of last season replacing Ruyman in the 21st minute. He kept a clean sheet. He also played in three of the cup matches.

Striker Román Diz has also been rewarded with a first team contract after an incredible season with the B team scoring on 19 occasions and becoming the league’s top scorer. The 22-year-old has bags of potential. Román made his debut with the first team last season and was involved in five matches totaling 108 minutes.

GOODBYE
Many of Lanzarote´s fans are upset with the news that local boy and winger Adrián Machín has decided to join La Palma side CD Mensajero. Adrián is a great lad and only a few years ago was voted player of the season by the club’s fans. He began last season on fire but then had a slump in form and was often on the bench.

He would be first to admit that he wasn’t at his best and is now hoping to once again produce that magical talent that he possesses with his new club. Adrián knows that the door is always open at UD Lanzarote and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him again some day wearing the Rojillo shirt. All the best Machín.
