CF P.P. SAN MATEO   2   LANZAROTE   1

The Rojillos drop three massive points away in Gran Canaria and slip to fourth spot in a fiery encounter.

The hosts took the lead with a powerful low strike from the edge of the area in the 50th minute.

Santi Rosa came close soon after on two occasions. A free kick from 20 yards was inches wide of the left hand post then a strike from the edge of the area which hit the top of the crossbar.

The big moment of controversy occurred in the 66th minute. The home side had a player down and the referee had his hand in the air to hold up play before blowing the whistle.

San Mateo tried their luck and played a quick free kick but the referee was yet to blow the whistle. Amazingly the official allowed play to continue as the hosts scored to go 2-0 up.

In the 84th minute Adrián Machín continued his impressive form by waltzing through the defence before slotting past the keeper to keep his teams hopes alive with the score 2-1.

The Rojillos could not find a way through even with eight minutes of stoppage time as they suffered their third defeat of the season.

League leaders CD Tenerife B were leading 1-0 in their match versus 9th placed side Arucas CF but deep into stoppage time the home side levelled to claim a point.

Next Sunday 7th April Lanzarote are at home versus Arucas CF at 12 noon.
