The Rojillos keep up with the pace of the leading teams with a tough 1-2 win over derby rivals San Bartolomé.

It was an even first half but the match really picked up the pace in the second period with Lanzarote looking the more threatening.

Winger Adrián Machín blasted in the first in the 70th minute and then Alex Cruz doubled the Rojillos lead ten minutes later with an audacious perfectly placed 30 yard chip over San Bartolomé keeper Agoney.

The Batateros (sweet potato farmers) scored a controversial penalty deep into stoppage time but it was too late for a fight back.

Lanzarote remain in third spot and are four points off league leaders CD Tenerife B. The Rojillos are at home this Sunday at 12 noon versus Club Atlético Victoria.
