IT’S A MERRY CHRISTMAS AND IT’S GOING TO BE A CRACKING NEW YEAR

On behalf of the management, players and all at UD Lanzarote we would like to wish you a wonderful Christmas and a healthy New Year.

After the player’s final training session of the year last Tuesday, management along with the squad enjoyed a farewell drink and pizza back at the club. During the evening I spoke to club President Juan Carlos Albuixech and he reminded me of the beautiful simplicity of living in Lanzarote.

Many Canarians begin the construction of their house with a garage. Put in a toilet and a basic kitchen and you’re ready for a party. When I first arrived in Lanzarote 28 years ago I spent my first few years living in the tranquil village of Punta Mujeres in the north of the island. Our first New Years Eve my then girlfriend now wife, Anna and I wandered around the village. We couldn’t believe how many parties were going on in people’s garages. The locals invited us in for a drink and so began our love of the village and of the island.

Enjoying life in the garage.

Back at the club on Tuesday, Clemente our kit man opened up the garage and within seconds a few fold up tables were erected, wine and beers taken from the fridge, the president phoned up for pizzas to be delivered and there began a wonderful evening.

We all hope to see you back on the island in 2022 to enjoy the simple things of life and of course come and support your favourite overseas football club UD Lanzarote.

FELIZ NAVIDAD
