SD TENISCA 0 LANZAROTE 0
Lanzarote´s final game of this year ended in a well earned draw against an in form La Palma side which sends the Rojillos up to fourth spot.
Lanzarote is the first side in the league to have completed their first round of matches meaning that every team in the league has at least one game in hand on the Rojillos, the La Palma sides have had many games postponed due to the eruption on their island and Tenisca have six games in hand, the most of any side.
The Rojillos next game is not until the 9th January away in Fuerteventura versus CD Unión Puerto and it is unlikely that Lanzarote will remain in fourth spot with all the other teams playing catch-up.
La Palma is always a difficult place to go and earn points. A return journey consists of four flights and the weather for such a small island can be completely different from one end of the island to the other, on top of this, the Cumbre Vieja volcano is still erupting. Nevertheless this small island has teams that are extremely competitive and even though Tenisca are currently second from bottom they have plenty of games in hand to fly up that league table.
The other La Palma side in this division are Atlético Paso who are in third place with plenty of games in hand and are very likely to be competing for top spot come the end of the season. The other strong club are CD Mensajero who play their football one league higher in Segunda B (Third Tier).
After last season’s 1-0 defeat against Tenisca Lanzarote will be pleased with their performance in an equal match with both sides at each other until the full time whistle looking to claim all three points.
Manager Mateo García should be particularly pleased with his defence because from late October Lanzarote lost three out of their four matches however they are now unbeaten in their last four outings and haven’t conceded a goal.
There is still plenty of work that needs to be done if the Rojillos are going to be in for a chance of promotion but the team has ended the year well and will look forward to further improvement in the New Year.
