THE IRISH HARBOUR BAR

Over the course of the next few months I would like to promote the clubs sponsors. With very little help from the islands government and still not being allowed to sell refreshments on match day along with the loss of entrance money for a year, every single sponsor for UD Lanzarote is vital.

To kick off with we have our own club director David Timmons who runs the Irish Harbour Bar in the Old Town in Puerto Del Carmen. David along with the owner Mai Blake have been financial supporters of the Rojillos for several years.

Being one of the first Irish bars in Puerto Del Carmen and opened by the late Pat Blake it has been up and running for over 25 years and has become a favourite place to spend an evening for many of the islands visitors.

The Irish Harbour Bar is open 7 nights a week from 7.30pm till late and with live music each evening from 10pm it’s a place to come and enjoy yourself.

I have got to known David well over the past five years and I believe he is a man who wants to help the island move forward and he is a man who puts words into action. During the Lockdown in 2020 David organised an online concert to help people on the island who had been forgotten by the authorities and were simply hungry.

He was hoping to raise a possible 1000 or possibly 2000 Euros. The concert ended up raising over 53,000 Euros which went onto help put food on family’s tables.

The club is delighted to have him on the Board of Directors and in the one and a half years he has been with the club he has gained the respect of everyone at UD Lanzarote with all the incredible work and fundraising events that he has organised. I am just chuffed to know him as a friend.

Pop in to the Irish Harbour Bar during your stay and go and have the craic with David and Mai.
