PRESENTATION OF THE ROJILLOS NEW MANAGER JUAN ANTONIO MACHÍN
On Thursday afternoon U.D. Lanzarote officially welcomed their new manager (mister) Juan Antonio Machín to the club.
The presentation was held at the club’s sponsors outlet, Informática Lanzarote in Arrecife. U.D. Lanzarote’s General manager César Saavedra said that the new mister was the ideal candidate to lead the club forward with his vast experience, values and honesty. He concluded by welcoming and wishing him the best of luck for the season ahead.

Juan Antonio Machín responded by saying that it was a great honour to take charge of U.D. Lanzarote and that as a local he was doubly motivated to bring success to the club.
The new coach emphasized that he understood the responsibility that comes with leading the islands premier club and feels that he is ready to face the challenges ahead.
This is not Machin’s first time as head coach of the Rojillos, during the 2000-01 season he led the team to promotion to Segunda B (third tier).
One of the reporters asked Machín how he felt emotionally returning to the club after a quarter of a century absence. This question seemed to catch him off guard and it was clearly apparent to everyone that emotions had got the better of him as he struggled to find words about how he felt about taking over at the club. Words were not required as everyone applauded his sincerity.

Machín ended the presentation by saying that he is delighted with the squad that is now in place. The defence which had difficulties last season has been strengthened and there is a good mix of experience and youth filled with hunger for the forthcoming season.
He then stated that he feels it will be a demanding season but he hopes fans can return home on a Sunday with the knowledge that their players gave their very best.
Juan Antonio Machín will lead his troops out for their first training session this Monday 27th July at Ciudad Deportiva at 6pm.
