LANZAROTE AT HOME THIS SUNDAY (24th) AT 12 NOON IN HUGE MATCH

This Sunday 24th March at 12 noon the Rojillos have a crunch mate in Arrecife versus second placed side UD Las Palmas B. Doors open at 11am (possibly earlier). Refreshments and merchandise are available inside the stadium on match day.

To try and avoid queues on match day, tickets are available from our merchandise shop in Costa Teguise at CC Nautical, Local 25 (open Mon-Fri 10am to 1pm and also Wednesday 5-7pm)

Only a couple of weeks ago the Rojillos were robbed of points versus the league leaders CD Tenerife B and were a distant seven points off that one and only automatic promotion position of top spot. Many people felt that we had lost our chance and were destined for the playoffs but two games later and that deficit is down to just two points and its game on.

Lanzarote will be facing the B team of La Liga side UD Las Palmas. Most of these young players train with the first team and have the hearts set on getting into that elite squad. The B team are bang in form taking 16 out of a possible 18 points in their last 6 outings including last week’s fabulous 2-0 win over their bitter rivals and leaders CD Tenerife B. They are sitting in second spot and level on points with Lanzarote.

The Gran Canarian side are ahead of Lanzarote on goal difference but that may not count for nothing if the teams finish level on points at the end of the season. The side that has the better record home and away against their opponent has the advantage.

Lanzarote and UD Las Palmas B drew earlier in the season so if Lanzarote can win on Sunday and were to end the season level on points they would finish ahead of Las Palmas B. If they draw on Sunday then it would go down to goal difference. It is almost worth an extra point.

To anyone who is on the island that is a football fan this is one game not to miss. There will also be many Las Palmas supporters at this match as lots of people from Gran Canaria live here.
