On a normal day an away draw against the third placed side would be seen as a good result; however the Rojillos would have flown home disappointed to have only come away with a point after playing so well.

The hosts took the lead on Saturday afternoon through a brilliant free kick in the 57th minute by Cristian Barrios but five minutes later Lanzarote’s top scorer Di Renzo levelled matters with an equally great goal from a glancing header.

Only a couple of minutes after scoring Di Renzo came close to putting his side in front but his effort struck the woodwork.

Lanzarote remain in 7th position and were two points behind UD Las Palmas B and a point behind CD Tenerife B but both these sides won their matches on the Sunday so now the distance to the final playoff position of fifth is now five points.

Lanzarote’s next match is a cracker. It’s a must win home match next Sunday 5th March at 12 noon against UD Las Palmas B who currently occupy that playoff spot. A win for Lanzarote would put them back in contention but a loss would all but end their hopes of promotion.
