UD GRAN TARAJAL   1   LANZAROTE   3

The Rojillos good form continued on Sunday with maximum points taken in Fuerteventura lifting them to within one position and one point from the playoff places.

In the 15th minute good combination play involving Keita, Rodrigo and Meca carved open the Gran Tarajal defence. Keita sprinted through the bamboozled defenders and blasted home low into the left hand corner from 15 yards to give his side an early 0-1 advantage.

The Brazilian Keita hitting top form and scoring the first goal.

Lanzarote doubled their lead in the 38th minute. Ismael Traoré ran at the defenders and threaded through a pass through the heart of the Fuerteventura defence for Meca, the striker rounded a hesitant keeper before slotting into the empty net to make it 0-2.

Just before the break the home side came so close to pulling a goal back. An inch perfect cross from 40 yards was headed at goal by striker Conciencao, Rojillos keeper Rúyman produced an outstanding save high at the far post before quickly blocking at the feet of front man Lucas preventing a certain goal from the follow up. Amid the mayhem the ball hit the crossbar but fortunately for Lanzarote they survived the assault to go into the break with a 0-2 lead.

For the opening 10 minutes of the second half Lanzarote had three good opportunities to kill off the game with that third goal. First was Rodrigo´s strike which hit the side netting, Ayoze Pérez shot over the bar and Traoré was denied by a good save from the keeper.

So many times in football when you don’t take those chances you can be made to pay. On the hour mark a chip from the left was headed home by Conceincao and the home side were now within touching distance with the score now 1-2.

In the 77th minute a good run down the right wing and an absolute peach of a low cross by sub Kevin Lemes found Traoré on the far post, the attacking winger calmly slotted home to restore the two goal cushion with a 1-3 lead.

Some of the Rojillos travelling supporters delighted with the result.

A strike from Antonio for the locals hit the crossbar from the edge of the box with ten minutes remaining but Lanzarote stood firm to claim the full three points.

On a sour note Lanzarote did end the match with just 10 men when after a heavy challenge on left back Cedenilla went unpunished. The classy 24 year old let his frustrations get the better of him as he argued with the referee as he was being carried off and was shown red.

Next Sunday 27th November at 12 noon Lanzarote are at home versus CD Santa Úrsula. The Tenerife side will be no pushover. They have taken seven points out of the last nine available including a point away against league leaders CF Pulido and a win against a very good CD Mensajero side.

Lanzarote are on a roll and will be boosted by the return of their influential striker Gonzalo Di Renzo following his one match suspension.
