APOLOGIES FOR MISTAKE REGARDING PLAYOFFS FOR UD LANZAROTE

The Rojillos are in the playoffs for promotion to Segunda B (Third Tier) however the system of the playoffs that I wrote on Saturday is not correct.

The Rojillos will be in a league group of six teams. Three teams from Group A and three from Group B. Lanzarote will only play the sides from Group B both home and away (6 matches) rather than the 10 matches I initially said. Lanzarote will not play the sides that were in their group. The two sides that finish at the top will then go into the next phase of the playoffs. The first match will be this Sunday May 2nd at home versus CD Buzanada.

I did think because Group B had one extra side therefore each team had played two extra games that the league would be different. This is not the case. The points that all six teams accumulated over their league season will be carried into the next stage, however because Group B played two extra games so their points, goals etc will need to be averaged and reduced to make it a fair contest.

This all does mean Lanzarote will begin this six match league at the bottom of the table so will be at a distinct disadvantage.

Once again I can only apologise for my mistake. We will take this one step at a time because this new system although being clever is extremely complicated with one part of it yet to be resolved.

UD Las Palmas C finished in the top three so should be playing in the playoffs for direct promotion to Segunda B. The problem that occurs is that their B team is already in Segunda B and obviously UD Las Palmas cannot have two teams in the same league. In normal circumstances the team that finished below them (UD Gran Tarajal) would take their place but that is yet to be decided.

As soon as the club knows how they can sell the tickets for this Sundays home match I will post on here.
