U.D. IBARRA 2 LANZAROTE 1, 13th October 2018,

U.D. IBARRA   2   LANZAROTE   1,   13th October 2018,

The Rojillos season began with great optimism especially after winning their opening two games, since then just three points have been accumulated in their following six matches.

It is true that everyone involved with Lanzarote has to be patient. Out of the eleven starting this match versus the Tenerife side only three of those players were regulars last season.

Excuses can only last a limited time and manager Maxi Barrera must be concerned that in four of the last six games his side have surrended the lead just as they did in this match.

On a positive note the season is still in its infancy and even though Lanzarote are sitting in 14th spot they are only five points off the playoff positions.

Lanzarote controlled much of the first period of this match with captain Rosmen spurning a couple of good chances as the half ended in a goalless stalemate.

The home side pressed early in the second half but it was Lanzarote that took the lead ten minutes into the second half. A corner from Nico González found Brad (photo) who headed home his first goal of the season to give his side a 0-1 advantage.

The lead lasted ten minutes. A long ball from midfielder Muni found striker Dani Carballa and his header took Rojillos keeper off guard to level at 1-1.

The home side were now on the front foot and went looking for all three points. The visitors thought that they had weathered the storm but deep into stoppage time a goalmouth scramble saw the ball finally rifled home by sub Jurgen and Lanzarote saw their point cruelly taken away from them.

Next Sunday 21st October at 12 noon Lanzarote are at home and will try and get their season back on track as they face lowly Tenerife side CD Buzanada.

Unfortunately the Puerto Del Carmen market will not be on this Friday 19th October due to a Tapas festival but merchandise will be available as always at the Sunday Teguise market and also at the game.
