U.D. SAN FERNANDO 1 LANZAROTE 4, 2nd September 2018,

U.D. SAN FERNANDO   1   LANZAROTE   4,   2nd September 2018,

It has been an excellent start to the season for the Rojillos. A tough derby win last week followed by a superb victory in Gran Canaria against opponents who are expected to be in the top four come May.

Things could have been a little different if ex Rojillos striker Jonathan Quintero had scored his 12th minute penalty but he was denied by keeper Alejandro.

Rojillos keeper Alejandro denying the former Lanzarote striker.

Lanzarote went on and dominated the match with the game almost in the bag by half time with three goals without reply.

A foul inside the box on Rosmen in the 20th minute allowed Ayoze Pérez to thump home a penalty to send his side 0-1 up. Rosmen then doubled the score in the 40th minute and the visitors looked hungry for more.

Captain Rosmen delighted with his first goal of the season.

Alex Yunes then put the icing on the cake with his first goal on his return to the club in added on time and the Rojillos found themselves with a commanding 0-3 half time lead.

Striker and new signing Alex Yunes also with his first goal of the campaign.

The home side made three changes at half time though this did not alter the course of the game. Rosmen opened the second half with a strike that crashed off the crossbar as his side controlled the game not allowing their opponents time on the ball and always looked the more threatening going forward.

A solo effort from Ayoze Pérez in the 66th minute sealed all three points giving Lanzarote an almighty 0-4 advantage.

A great solo goal from last seasons player of the year Ayoze Pérez.

Substitute Aday scored a consolation for the distraught home side in the final play of the match and this prevented the Rojillos from claiming top spot.

Manager Maxi Barrera will be delighted with the start to the season. His side is playing well, new faces are fitting in nicely and his strikers are all already bagging goals.

Its a big thumbs up from Lanzarote manager Maxi Barrera.

With the league in its infancy his side are in second spot trailing on goals scored to CF Pulido with CD Tenerife B in third spot with four points.

Next Sunday Lanzarote fans will be hoping for much of the same when they face CF Unión Puerto. The Fuerteventura side lost their opening match 1-0 but made no mistake in their second match when they thumped SD Tenisca for six with the game ending 6-1.

A great days work both from the Lanzarote players and the travelling away fans.

This Sundays (9th September) match versus CF Unión Puerto has been confirmed as a 12 noon kick off.
