UD LAS ZOCAS   0   LANZAROTE   0,         1st May 2016,

Whilst an away draw against the leagues fifth placed side on paper looks good the Rojillos were desperate for a win to keep on the trail of league leaders Santa Brígida who had won the previous evening.

Lanzarote remain in third spot but are now three points away from second placed Las Palmas B and a whopping 6 points behind the league leaders with just two games to go.

The Rojillos will now need a minor miracle to finish top and qualify for the Copa Del Rey but should Santa Brígida lose both their remaining games and Las Palmas B take no more than three points in their last two games then there is a chance.

Lanzarote are at home this Sunday and home form suggests that all three points is possible then the following week they are away against the bottom club Atlético Granadilla who are the whipping boys in this league having already conceding 98 goals in their 36 games played to date. If this happened then Lanzarote would finish level on points at the top but would win the league on goal difference.

I did say a minor miracle was needed but if you don’t believe in miracles then you have not seen who has won the English Premiership undoubtedly one of the hardest leagues in world football to win. Hats off to Leicester City!

This may have been Lanzarote´s second consecutive scoreless draw however Rojillos manager Adolfo Pérez set up an attacking formation against a side still harbouring possibilities of a playoff finish.

The game was played at a good pace with both sides creating opportunities and looking to claim all three points. As ever goalkeeper Agoney put in another commanding display.

Another super game from Rojillos goalkeeper Agoney.

Another super game from Rojillos goalkeeper Agoney.

Late on sub Javi Melían struck the post and Captain Rosmen headed wide when you would have put your mortgage on him scoring.

If Lanzarote can avoid defeat in their last home league match of the season next Sunday 8th May at 12 noon versus mid table side UD Ibarra then they would have gone two complete seasons without a home defeat.
