The Rojillos earned a very hard point in Tenerife against a side desperate for points to move away from the relegation zone. A superb defensive display from managers Adolfo Pérez´s boys ensured they didn’t concede which also makes it six games since a defeat.

The home side set off at a fast pace and dominated the first half having four good chances to take the lead. Lanzarote just had the one opportunity when winger Toñito was put through but the Tenerife keeper was alert and cleared the danger.

The second half began much the same way as the first half ended with the home side in control. Just after the hour and the home side had another couple of chances to go in front but the visitors defence held firm even if it was desperate on occasions.

In added on time Lanzarote almost shocked the home side when defender Adrián Barrera connected superbly with a header which was destined for goal until the Tenerife goalkeeper pulled off the save of the match to deny victory for Lanzarote at the death.

It’s all very close at the top with just two points and one goal separating the top three. League leaders CD Marino drew at home 1-1 so remain two points ahead of Lanzarote whilst La Palma side CD Mensajero made full use of their rivals dropping points by winning at home and leapfrogging Lanzarote into second spot.

Next week looks tasty as Lanzarote are hosts to the league leaders CD Marino on Sunday 8th March at 12 noon.
