LANZAROTE AWAY SATURDAY 11th IN GRAN CANARIA

The Rojillos will travel on the 7am flight to Las Palmas tomorrow morning (Saturday 11th) and face 11th placed side Arucas CF at 11am.

The hosts are sitting reasonably comfortable in the league, eight points from the relegation positions but a whopping 12 points from the playoffs. In their last six matches they have won three and lost three but one of those wins was a superb 1-0 victory against league leaders UD San Fernando so they are capable of beating any team in this league on their day and have won their last four home matches.

Lanzarote are in 7th place and four points adrift of CD Tenerife B who occupy the final playoff position, 5th spot. The Rojillos will be full of confidence having beaten the much fancied UD Las Palmas B 4-1 last Sunday and have in their ranks the league´s top scorer Gonzalo Di Renzo fresh from his hat trick last week.

There are seven matches remaining and the Rojillos cannot afford many errors. Their last seven games of the first round of matches Lanzarote won 6 and drew the other and this is the kind of form that is required to snatch a playoff position.

The very special Gran Canarian dark rum Ron Arehucas or Amarillo as its also known.

Arucas CF is one of the league´s oldest clubs and to many Canarians the area is famous for its  rum especially the excellent dark rum which the locals affectionately call “Amarillo” (yellow). Any bar in Lanzarote worth its weight will serve Ron Arehucas normally with coke so if you haven’t tried it ask for Ron Arehucas con cola or Amarillo con cola. Early on Saturday afternoon a few of us fans travelling to the match hope to be celebrating with one or two of them.
