CD ATLÉTICO PASO 3 LANZAROTE 0, 26th January 2020

CD ATLÉTICO PASO   3   LANZAROTE   0,   26th January 2020,

The Rojillos have been sinking fast and this defeat in La Palma brings them to the brink of the relegation positions with just goal difference in the way.

The opening goal came in the 16th minute when a poor pass was robbed by Alex Yunes, the ex Rojillo laid it on a plate for his team mate Valerón to poke home giving his side a 1-0 lead.

The Rojillos already knew that they were in for a difficult day with their hosts in third place and looking to cement their playoff aspirations. Conceding early was hard to take especially against the side that has lost the least amount of times this season with just two defeats.

To their credit Lanzarote were solid for the remainder of the half but in their opponents final third offered very little in the way of threat.

In the 57th minute Lanzarote centre back Omar came close to levelling but his header was narrowly off target.

The Rojillos have never been far away from controversy this season and when things run against you it seems impossible to stop. In the 68th minute a scrambling of heads in the six yard box and the official somehow came to the decision that it was a penalty to the home side with Josito the offender.

Alex Yunes stepped up and tucked the ball home to give his side breathing space with a 2-0 lead.

With ten minutes remaining sub Pascu finished off a move to seal the victory for his side.

It was a great day for Atlético Paso as the two teams above them dropped points so they are just three points off top spot.

In contrast Lanzarote are in an awful position sitting in 16th place and failure to find their first win in ten matches next week could see the Rojillos drop into the relegation positions.
