LANZAROTE   2   CD LAGUNA   2

Lanzarote will be hugely disappointed dropping two home points against a side that’s propping up the division.

Lanzarote played in their white and blue kit as a tribute to CD Tenerife. A minute’s silence was observed prior to kick-off and play was stopped in the 9th minute for players, officials and fans to unite in a minute’s applause for striker Jesús De Miguel who passed away last Tuesday.

The opening stages were entertaining and Lanzarote went in front in the 17th minute when a 20-yard free kick from Captain Raúl struck the post and first to respond was Ale Fuentes who tucked the ball home to give his side a 1-0 lead.

The Tenerife side were awarded and converted a penalty in the 32nd minute to level at 1-1.

Four minutes later and with Lanzarote at a total loss of concentration the visitors went 1-2 in front with an effort from the edge of the box.

Im sure these lads had a good day out despite the result.

Lanzarote had various opportunities to level in what was an open and entertaining first half but it didn’t come until just before the break when Ale Gil powerfully headed home from a corner kick to make it 2-2.

CD Laguna battled for every ball and even though Lanzarote had chances they failed to test the Tenerife keeper.

Winger Nadjib was introduced and he looked the player capable of unlocking the defence. It was terrific footwork from Nadjib that created a great opportunity for fellow sub Román, but his low strike from the penalty spot fell straight to the goalkeeper.

This point leaves Lanzarote in 12th spot but even though form has been poor they are remarkably still only four points away from a playoff position.

Next Saturday Lanzarote will take the ferry over to Fuerteventura and travel the long journey south to face second from bottom side UD Sotavento.
