REAL UNIÓN DE TENERIFE   1   LANZAROTE   1

Lanzarote take an away point in Tenerife but they were inches away from claiming their second away win of the season.

The first half ended in stalemate with neither side taking any chances and both goalkeepers were spectators.

The second half livened up instantly with both teams having the belief that they could win the match.

A great through ball in the 63rd minute sent sub Román through. The 22-year-old showed what astonishing pace he possesses and left his defender for dead.

Did the youngster have the composure to finish from a narrow angle? Absolutely, he stuck the ball low into the right-hand corner to give Lanzarote a 0-1 lead.

The Rojillos then had to contend with a lot of pressure. The Tenerife players on two occasions went down in the box appealing for a penalty but there was no way that the official was going to be fooled by their antics.

One minute into added on time and a hopeful ball lifted into the box was hit by the left foot of the striker and with keeper Ruyman wrong footed the ball drifted inside the far-right hand post to level the match.

Overall, it was an excellent performance from Juan Antonio Machin’s men but they will be devastated not heading home with maximum points.

Next Sunday 8th November Lanzarote are at home versus CD Laguna at 11.30am.
