LANZAROTE   1   CD MARINO   0

Lanzarote pick up their first home win of the season and whilst they only move up one spot to 12th they have closed the gap to the playoff positions to four points.

The Rojillos took the lead in the 18th minute through an unlikely source defender Oliver.

The Tenerife side thought they had levelled in the 28th minute but amid their celebrations they failed to notice the linesman with his flag raised for offside.

The visitors looked dangerous in attack but Lanzarote held firm and went into the break with that 1-0 advantage.

Lanzarote have had so many injuries of late and it was refreshing to see the return of Nadjib and Ale Fuentes. This gave the Rojillos width and Ale Fuentes was sensational attacking the right back as well as defending from the front.

In the 63rd minute the ball fell to Alex Cruz from a corner but on the half volley and with the ball rising he only managed to strike the crossbar.

Two minutes later and Ale Fuentes skinned his defender but from a narrow angle saw his effort go wide of the right-hand post.

Every Rojillo player gave their heart and soul and got the win that they fully deserved.

Next week Lanzarote face another tough match when they travel to Tenerife to face fourth placed side Real Unión Tenerife.
