ARUCAS CF 2 LANZAROTE 3 (6th December)
What an important away win against promotion challenging rivals.
The Rojillos took the lead in the 22nd minute through captain Raúl and six minutes later that lead was doubled with Adrián Machín firing home.
This great start came at a cost. Early on centre back Javi Mayor had to be stretchered off with an ankle injury. The 22 year old has been an immense signing and is now in hospital. I’m sure that you all wish him the very best and of course we will keep you informed about his condition.
The 5th placed side pulled a goal back just before the break to make it 1-2 then levelled the match a few minutes after the restart.
The Rojillos were denied a good penalty shout in the 67th minute but in the 75th minute Javi Martín scored the winner to claim maximum points.
Lanzarote remain in fourth spot and currently leaders UD San Fernando and also UD Las Palmas are both playing but are both level. If that stays like that Lanzarote will move to within two points of top spot.
Next Saturday at 12.30 Lanzarote are once again away in Gran Canaria and face 7th placed side UD Villa Santa Brígida.
