UD TAMARACEITE 0 LANZAROTE 3
The Rojillos convincingly won their penultimate match in Gran Canaria with two first half goals from striker Canillas and a 70th minute strike from Santi Rosa.
Lanzarote have leapfrogged local rivals U.S. Yaiza into second spot but trail leaders CD Tenerife B by three points, however they cannot catch Tenerife no matter what the result is in the final match as Tenerife have a better head to head record against the Rojillos.
Congratulations to CD Tenerife B as with one match to spare they are now champions and will be promoted to RFEF 2 (fourth tier).
The final league match of the season for Lanzarote is at home this Sunday at 11am against U.S. Yaiza and there still is a lot to play for. Lanzarote have a one point lead over third placed Yaiza so the Rojillos need at least a draw on Sunday to finish second and claim the right to compete in the Copa Del Rey next season.
Yaiza must do what they have done for the past two seasons and that is beat Lanzarote in Arrecife to claim second spot and the Copa Del Rey inclusion as well as many other advantages that will be explained in my next post including how the playoffs work.
