LANZAROTE AWAY TOMORROW (Sat 24th) IN TENERIFE
The Rojillos travel to the south of Tenerife tomorrow (Saturday 24th) and play UD Ibarra at 3pm knowing that a win will take them to top of the table albeit possibly for just a few hours.
Lanzarote find themselves in second position and trail league leaders CD Tenerife B by just two points, thanks in part to UD Ibarra who earned a priceless away point in a goalless draw versus Tenerife B last weekend thus allowing Lanzarote to close the gap to just two points.
UD Ibarra are just one position and one point off the relegation places but have shown huge signs of improvement of late with just one loss in their last five outings, however they are very much aware that they are in a dogfight and need to battle for every point if they want to remain in the fifth tier of Spanish football. Last week’s result would have given them a huge amount of confidence.
With 13 matches remaining Lanzarote is one of four teams competing to win the league and therefore gain automatic promotion this season, so far they have played each competitor away and have drawn each of those matches. All of those teams fighting for automatic promotion have to play Lanzarote in Arrecife with CD Tenerife B being the Rojillos next opponents following this match on Sunday 3rd March.
Midfielder Matias Sosa will not be available tomorrow after having to serve a one match ban from the accumulation of five yellow cards and new striker Jorge Canillas won’t have his paperwork completed on time but is expected to be available next Sunday.
