NO CHILD WITHOUT FOOD OR A TOY THIS CHRISTMAS
After a couple of successful years whereby UD Lanzarote supporters have brought toys to a match for underprivileged children, the club has decided to also include essential food items so families can all enjoy Christmas.
On Sunday 21st Dec at 12 noon at Ciudad Deportiva in Arrecife Lanzarote face UD Tamaraceite and the club are supporting the registered but completely unfunded charity “Manos que no dais que esperais” (very difficult to translate but similar to) “Hands that don’t give can’t expect to receive “.
Ana and her team of four unpaid volunteers cares for around 500 underprivileged families on the island and they have asked for our help.
In previous seasons the club has asked their fans to bring unwrapped children’s presents such as; footballs, dolls, Lego, colouring pens, etc.
Also food items such as pasta, rice, tins or any items that are long lasting including treats like biscuits etc. Other items that the charity are desperate for are nappies, wipes or sanitary products and any of these and similar would be gratefully received.

Ana and club officials will be there to receive items and I am hoping at halftime she will go on the pitch to show her thanks and acknowledge our fans.
Ana is an unbelievable woman whose passion for her fellow human beings is unsurpassed. I think that it would be sensational if us as fans could respond to her by showing that we care and to encourage and inspire her to continue her amazing work.

For anyone wishing to contribute but cannot be at the match items can be brought into our merchandise shop in Costa Teguise at CC Nautical, Local 25, open Mon-Fri 10am to 1pm and also Wednesday’s 5-7pm. Remember this is for Spanish Christmas (Reyes) so toys accepted until Monday 5th Jan and food will be accepted throughout the year.
The charity will also have a stall at The Open Mall and in Deiland from 19th Dec until 4th Jan from 5-9pm. In PDC items can be dropped off at Dicey Riley’s or The Irish Harbour Bar in the Old Town from 20th Dec after 6pm.
