NOT A GOOD WEEKEND FOR THE ROJILLOS THOUGH ROOM FOR OPTIMISM

Following the 3-1 defeat away to Arucas CF last Saturday morning Lanzarote had to just sit back and wait to see how all the other results panned out over the weekend to see the extent of the damage.

In the blink of an eye Lanzarote dropped from second spot down to sixth position, one place outside of the playoff positions.

It is difficult to understand especially as the home performances have been excellent where they have won five and drawn one in their six matches played. On the road however, five points out of a possible 18 is not good enough for a playoff spot let alone automatic promotion.

The Rojillos are not the only club to travel badly. UD Villa Santa Brígida are the only club in the league with a 100% home record winning all six of their matches but away they have mustered up just a single point out of the 18 available leaving them in 8th place.

It certainly is one of the most interesting seasons for many years where any of the top 10 sides could easily win that one automatic promotion position with just six points separating them. Even CF San Mateo in 11th could join the party and would have been involved if they hadn’t conceded in injury time in three of their last four matches.

With a third of the season now passed in this tipsy topsy year the fact is Lanzarote trail the league leaders by three points though with three home games in their next four outings anything is possible. The journey till May certainly looks as though its going to be bumpy yet exciting.

It is obvious to see that our home support has been crucial so as we go into the festive season lets all get behind the manager and his team because together, we can get back to that top spot that UD Lanzarote held for five weeks.

There is a one weeks break this week so the Rojillos next match is at home on Sunday 7th December at 11am versus CD Herbania.
