THE ROJILLOS REMAIN AT THE TOP

Lanzarote´s 1-1 draw early Saturday afternoon in the south of Tenerife proved enough to stay at the top of the league on goal difference, though after six matches just three points separates the top 10 sides.

The highlight of the weekend was the Canarian derby between the C teams of CD Tenerife and UD Las Palmas and it didn’t disappoint. Tenerife was leading 4-3 going into added on time but Las Palmas levelled at the death.

Another couple of heavyweight teams that are expected to be challenging for promotion met in Gran Canaria on Sunday. Prior to the match the home side UD San Fernando were the only unbeaten side in the league but that ended with an early goal for UD Tamaraceite who leapfrog their Gran Canarian rivals into third spot.

The other two Lanzarote sides U.S. Yaiza and San Bartolomé CF both lost at home 0-1 with the latter already in a bit of trouble sitting second from bottom in the table though last season they had a similar start and ended up just below mid table.

This Sunday 19th October Lanzarote will be playing at home in Arrecife at 11am versus bottom of the table side UD Telde. Needless to say nothing other than a win will suffice. Tickets are always available on the door on match day but if you wish to avoid the queue to pay, tickets can be purchased at the merchandise shop in Costa Teguise.
