The Rojillos travelled to Gran Canarian with many of their junior players leaving captains Ayoze Pérez, Raúl and Ruyman at home and also resting Alex Cruz, Machín and others.

The Gran Canarian side defended well and progressed to the semi final of the José Antonio Ruiz Caballero cup after 20 penalties, finally winning 9-8.

On a positive note for Lanzarote centre back Javi Mayor played 40 minutes in his first competitive game this year after fracturing his ankle in December. Fellow centre back Sergio Beberide also returned following a groin strain.

The Rojillos now focus on this Sundays (6th April) home match in Tías at 12 noon.
