LANZAROTE 0 UD TAMARACEITE 1
The Rojillos still cling onto the last playoff position despite losing to the second placed Gran Canarian side.
This match always had the feel that it would be decided by the odd goal and so it proved.
The performance from both sides was excellent but Tamaraceites central defender David García was a rock. A player who is now 43 years old and has played at the highest level of Spanish football as the captain of UD Las Palmas is a great example to any footballer on how to play the game.
The Rojillos should hold their heads high despite this loss. They created opportunities in what was a quality match but couldn’t find that finishing touch.
Lanzarote’s keeper pulled off a superb save at the beginning of the second half but in the 74th minute he came for a ball that he was always going to be second best to. The striker got his head on the ball to win three massive points for his side as they now trail league leaders UD Las Palmas B by just four points.
Lanzarote are in 5th spot and next week travel to Gran Canaria on Saturday 29th Feb to face CF San Mateo at 12 noon.
