LANZAROTE AWAY THIS SUNDAY (Sunday 16th) v THE LEAGUE LEADERS

The Rojillos will travel to Gran Canaria this Sunday and face the only side that remains unbeaten in the league this season UD Las Palmas Atlético.

The B team of UD Las Palmas have simply been outstanding this season having won 14 out of their 21 matches played with the other seven games all ending in stalemate. They have scored more and conceded less than any other team and hold a seven point lead over nearest rivals second placed side UD Tamaraceite.

Lanzarote were within 10 minutes of inflicting their first defeat to Las Palmas B back in October when they were leading 1-0 but a penalty to the visitors in the 80th minute denied the Conejeros (locals) victory.

The Rojillos are in third spot and are a mighty 10 points behind the runaway leaders and anything other than a win will extinguish any faint hopes of winning the league and claiming that one and only guaranteed promotion spot.

If Lanzarote are going to cling to any hope it’s that UD Las Palmas B were leading the league last season and had a mini collapse which led them to end the season in fourth whilst Lanzarote finished in second.

To be fair there is absolutely no sign of any collapse as the Primera Liga´s reserve team have won their last five matches whilst just conceding a single goal though Lanzarote remain unbeaten in their last five games with three wins and two draws.
