PABLILLO ANNOUNCES HIS RETIREMENT FROM FOOTBALL

UD Lanzarote player Pablo Rivero Molina better known as Pablillo has been forced to announce his retirement from football due to injury.

Pablillo had been waiting for the results on an injury that has plagued him for a while and after consultation with specialists and with the deepest of sadness he has decided to hang up his boots.

The club, management and his teammates completely understood his decision with his health taking priority over everything.

On Monday evening after informing the club the 27 year old winger said an emotional goodbye to his team mates and coaching staff.

I was speaking to Pablillo a few weeks ago at a training session and I could sense how concerned he was about his injury and also the complications he could incur in his latter years should he continue.

He was telling a 57 year old bloke all this as I thought back to my youth when I was invincible, not listening to professional advice and returning to play against the advice of much wiser people. Here I was all those years on with difficulty in walking talking to Pablillo with one knee replacement that isn’t great and waiting for a replacement on the other. My advice was “Listen to the professionals and not your heart”.

On behalf of all UD Lanzarote supporters we wish this local lad nothing but the best for the future.
