SAN BARTOLOMÉ CF   1   LANZAROTE   1

Ten man Lanzarote hold onto a point as midfielder Javi Martin was sent off with his second yellow card in the 31st minute on Saturday evening away in San Bartolomé.

The match began at a frantic pace and it was the Batateros (sweet potato farmers) that won and converted a penalty in the 4th minute.

It only took the Rojillos three minutes to level the score. Javi Martín struck a beauty from 20 yards which flew into the top left hand corner to the delight of the many Rojillo fans.

A super strike from Javi Martín to level for the Rojillos.

The game really looked as though it was going to be an entertaining match as both sides went at each other however on the half hour the match changed.

San Bartolomé broke from a Lanzarote corner and Javi Martín who was already on a yellow card went in for a challenge that he was always going to be second best to and brought down his opponent earning himself his second yellow card and reducing his side down to 10 players for the remainder of the match.

For the opening 20 minutes of the second half the hosts looked the more dangerous but rarely troubled Rúyman the Lanzarote keeper.

Around 1500 San Bartolomé and Rojillo fans enjoyed the match

Lanzarote managed to claw themselves back into the match but couldn’t find the breakthrough and in the end should be happy with the draw.

The Rojillos are in third spot and next Sunday 9th February are at home in Tías at 12 noon and will face Fuerteventura side CD Herbania. Tickets available on the door.
