The Tenerife opposition have had a disappointing campaign for their normal high standards. Only four matches ago they were just two points from the relegation positions but with two wins and two draws they have moved up to around mid table and five points from the drop.

The Rojillos ended the year and also began the new year with a win, though the wind was blown out of their sails last week as they came crashing back to earth with a hugely disappointing 2-1 away defeat to lowly CD Buzanada. This happens in football and that is why we all love the game so much however it’s not so much fun when it happens to your side. What matters now is that the team respond in a positive manner.

Lanzarote are in third spot level on points with UD San Fernanado and both trail league leaders UD Las Palmas B by six points. Las Palmas could and probably will be nine points clear before Lanzarote´s match as they are playing bottom club CF Unión Viera on Friday evening.

One major issue must be dealt with if Lanzarote are going to challenge for promotion is that they must fill in that leaky defence. For the opening 12 matches the Rojillos had the league’s best defence by only conceding six goals. In the following six matches the opposition have scored on 12 occasions. New signing, centre back Sergio Beberide will be available for selection but it is up to manager Juan Carlos Socorro to decide whether it’s too early to introduce the six foot seven inch (2.01m) 19 year old.

One thing that has been consistent this season is the incredible support the club receives from its fans and this is what the team once again need from the first minute on Sundays match. Other teams are envious of our support and I am sure every player in the league enjoys playing in front of such a good crowd.

Tickets for the match can be paid for on the gate and it is advisable to get there just after the doors open at 11am. We also sell match tickets at our shop in Costa Teguise at CC Nautical, Local 25. Open Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and also every Wednesday 5-7pm https://maps.google.com/?q=28.997751,-13.492223
