ROJILLOS AWAY IN TENERIFE SATURDAY (11th Jan)

Its back to business as Lanzarote travel to the south of Tenerife this Saturday 11th January to play fourth placed side CD Marino at 12.30pm.

It’s seems an eternity since the Rojillos last competitive match which was a 2-0 home win on the 22nd December leaving them in third spot trailing the league leaders UD Las Palmas B by three points.

As customary in Spain the players rested during the Christmas period and returned to training on the 2nd January.

There has been little activity in the transfer window as the services of striker Iván Hujo (photo) was secured in December. The club will possibly want to strengthen their defence after losing centre back Javi Mayor following his fractured leg in December but other than that it has been a quiet period.

CD Marino have been one of the surprises of the season having only tasted defeat twice in this campaign and are unbeaten in their last seven matches. They trail Lanzarote by just two points but also have a game in hand.

This match will mark the halfway point of the season and it’s vital that the Rojillos keep the pressure on the two teams above them as only the league winners will gain automatic promotion.

It is unlikely that the match will be streamed but I am hoping to be there so I will update all the action.

On behalf of everyone at the club we would like to wish everyone an exciting and healthy new year.
