OUTSTANDING RESPONSE FROM LANZAROTE FANS FOR TOYS

Irene from the Association La Vida es Zuania (Life is beautiful) and UD Lanzarote club manager César Saavedra were absolutely gobsmacked when they saw the amount of toys donated by UD Lanzarote fans for children who would have otherwise gone without this Christmas.

You will not be there to see the child’s face when they open their presents, though each and every one of you that took the time to go out and purchase a gift or sanitary products deserves a standing ovation.

On my original post asking our fans to support the initiative “No child without a toy this Christmas” the response on social media was quiet. I needn’t have been concerned as for UD Lanzarote fans action was far greater than their writing.

Volunteer Irene explained to my wife and I how a couple of weeks ago they had organized a huge birthday party for all the children as most of them had never celebrated a birthday. This really hit home how these children had missed out. At the birthday party each child celebrated each other’s birthday with a huge cake and plenty of smiles.

For some of these children they will be opening a present for the very first time on Spanish Christmas (Reyes) on the 6th January thanks to you.

The photo doesn’t do justice to how many items that were donated but it goes about three toys deep. Unfortunately I couldn’t take photos of everyone that donated but here are a few.
