UD LANZAROTE´S THREE NEW SHIRTS FOR SEASON 2024/25

After four seasons of wearing the same designed shirt, all of UD Lanzarote´s teams will be wearing a unique new shirt for season 2024/25.

The three new shirts are available in our home colours of red and blue, away, white and blue and our third strip pink and white. They will be available to buy from our shop in Costa Teguise at CC Nautical, Local 25 from Wednesday 11th September. The shop opening times are Monday to Friday 10am to 1pm and also Wednesdays 5-7pm.

As always we will be at Teguise market every Sunday at our stall in the main square from 9.30am until 2pm and we will also have them at our home matches in Tías. The shirts will become available on our online shop shortly https://mercancialanzarote.com/shop/ (address and directions of our shop in Costa Teguise are also on that link).

Since introducing our last shirt in 2020 I have been working on this new design. We are the Rojillos (The Reds) and the primary colour must be red for the volcanoes and the secondary colour is blue for the sky. The other shirts followed suit with either a darker or lighter version of the primary colour.

I may like the design but more important is that customers, the club and locals also like it. During my time working at Teguise market on the UD Lanzarote merchandise stall and in our shop I have asked hundreds of customers their opinion and overall the view was positive as it has been from the UD Lanzarote directors and players.

I had shown various designs to our general manager César Saavedra and President Juan Carlos Albuixech but when I showed them this finished article it was their eyes and their expression that sealed it for me that this was going to be our new shirt.

On the back of the three new shirts as well as the goalkeepers we have kept the popular outline of Lanzarote´s most famous volcano “La Caldera de los Cuervos” (Ravens Crater), also embroided at the top remains “Isla de los Volcanes” (Island of the Volcanoes). Both of these designs proved hugely popular not only with tourists but also with the locals. We are keeping them! The club is also delighted to have the logo of our friends and wonderful sponsors Grupo Cepal just above the volcano. All of the print is sublimation which makes it impossible for it to peel off.

As well as a change of design we also have a change of the principal sponsor. Opel/Orvecame (Organisation of vehicles of Cabrera Medina) had been on the front of the shirt for over 20 years and co owner Pedro Cabrera has and still is a huge part of UD Lanzarote. The players now wear the Cabrera Medina logo on their shorts. The club thanks him and all at Orvecame for their continued support.

On the front of the shirt the club is proud to display the new Tourist logo of the island. This was introduced several months ago at a ceremony at Jameos Del Agua by the President of the island Oswaldo Betancort. It is a stunning modern design using the volcanic landscape in the art. This will be used by The Lanzarote Tourist Board along with their long standing César Manrique sun logo at International Fairs and promoting the island. To say that I am delighted to have this beautiful piece of typical Lanzarote art on the front of our shirts would be an understatement.

The shirts are available in 13 sizes starting at 6 months up to XXXL. Our adult sizing is quite generous and to those who have bought shirts before in the last 10 years the sizing is the same. To anyone buying an adult shirt for the first time we are generally one size bigger than other brands. Most of our players wear adult S with just a few who wear the M, none wear the L. Please check the measurements on our online shop.

The shirts have been produced predominantly by myself, my wife Anna and UK resident and Lanzarote holidaymaker Nico Dal Pozzo from N77 Design. I am so grateful to Nico for all of his ideas, patience and talent. We met at the UD Lanzarote stall at the Sunday Teguise market and I persuaded him and his late dad to come to the match. Driving down I mentioned to him what I was doing and 10 years later we have produced our fourth shirt together.

Whilst various people have had input on the three new shirts it was Nico who is solely responsible for our incredible goalkeeper shirts. I had always found that there was little interest in the goalkeeper’s shirts however when I showed the designs to our keepers Ruyman and Alejandro they loved them and sales have backed up their initial impression of the design. For the time being we will only be selling the blue kit, though that won’t be available until Monday.

The price of the shirts remains the same as the previous ones with the adult shirts at 39 Euros and children’s are 29 Euros. If you have an abono (season ticket) or if you are a Socio (member) you are eligible for a 10% discount. If you have both it is a 15% discount and Goldcard holders receive a 20% discount on all merchandise (you must show your card prior to purchase and only at our shop in Costa Teguise, Teguise market and at home matches).

The chain of Trendz shops in all of the three tourist resorts and Arrecife are our clients and will have these new shirts shortly. Due to their frontline position and higher costs the price is a few Euros more expensive but it is the authentic product. We do not sell to any Bazar shops or anywhere that sells fake products. If you see a football shirt with just the word Lanzarote on it, it is not a UD Lanzarote product and does nothing to help the club.

My wife and I feel extremely proud to work alongside UD Lanzarote and being able to produce their kits and merchandise for the past 18 years. This is our sixth shirt and we both strive to keep on improving on the quality and we hope that you feel that this shirt is the best of the lot.
