FIXTURES FOR 2024-25 HAVE JUST BEEN RELEASED

The Tercera Division (Fifth Tier) will consist of 18 teams, the league winners will be the only side guaranteed of promotion whilst the following four teams will battle it out in the playoffs and four sides will be relegated. The Rojillos will begin the 2024/25 campaign at home on Sunday the 8th September versus Tenerife side CD Buzanada. Our home pitch in Arrecife (Ciudad Deportiva) is undergoing some much needed renovations with a new surface to be put in place before laying the most up-to-date artificial grass.

Our interim home the “Francisco Bermudez Hernández” stadium in Tias has been our second home over the years and UD Lanzarote had part of what was probably their best ever season in this stadium winning the league in the (Segunda B) third tier.

Tias. Our new home for the next few months.

It was an incredible time to be a Rojillo fan, one week UD Lanzarote faced Sevilla B with a young Sergio Ramos beginning his career and he was blown away 4-0 by a rampant Rojillo side. The following week Lanzarote just failed to make the last 16 of the Copa Del Rey when they were beaten 0-1 by Primera Liga side Sevilla.

The club is hoping to return to Ciudad Deportiva around Christmas though no date has been set. Bus routes to Tias from the tourist resorts are not great though a taxi up from Puerto Del Carmen Old Town is under 10 Euros however for Costa Teguise it is much more expensive though the bus route from Playa Blanca is fairly simple. We will try and find the best ways of getting to a match in the near future.

The stadium in Tias where UD Lanzarote will begin their season.

The first derby match versus CF San Bartolomé is at home on Sunday 22nd September with the return on the 1st February and the only game away in Fuerteventura is scheduled for the 28th September versus CD Herbania.

Other popular home matches will be versus UD Las Palmas B on the 6th October, UD San Fernando on the 1st December and CD Mensajero scheduled for the 22nd December.

Lanzarote play three of their final four league games at home with the league season ending at home on Sunday 11th May versus Tenerife side CD Marino at 11am.

In between all this Lanzarote have their Copa Del Rey match to look forward to. The draw will take place shortly and the Rojillos are guaranteed a home tie versus a Primera Liga side (not Real Madrid or Barcelona) or a team from Segunda A (Second Tier). Should the Rojillos get through to the next round they could then meet one of those two big boys Real or Barca.

One of the problems the club is facing especially for the Copa Del Rey match is the demand for tickets. Tias stadium can hold just over 1000 people which is sufficient for most league matches though for the Cup match the demand will be massive and the clubs hugely important payday of this match will obviously be limited.

Whilst it has been common knowledge that the renovations were going to take place and have already started in Ciudad Deportiva the club had been unable to confirm playing in Tias because the RFEF (The Spanish Royal Football Federation) had to give the go ahead.

The playing surface in Tias is superb and a packed grandstand creates a super atmosphere, hopefully Lanzarote can mirror the boys of the 2003/04 season where they began a nine game winning streak in Tias, a fantastic Copa Del Rey run as well as becoming league Champions.

Please remember that any of these fixtures can be changed for many reasons such as flight delays or availability etc. The club can never state that there is a possibility that a match may be cancelled, this has to come from the Spanish Football Federation.

Season ticket prices will be announced soon, along with gate prices for the forthcoming season though there isn’t expected to be a change with season ticket prices or entrance prices.
