THE NINA MEMORIAL TROPHY (PLAYER OF THE SEASON 2023/24)

The club has decided to name the player of the year trophy “Nina” to honour the memory of La Madrina (The Godmother) of UD Lanzarote Feliciana Gil Ferraz or simply known to everyone as Nina who died in October 2020.

Nina was at the stadium every Sunday selling the raffle tickets on behalf of the club. Her daughter Pilar continues her good work along with Jacci and Lorraine with her son Jonathan taking the tickets on the door. Naming the trophy after Nina will allow people to remember this wonderful lady at least at one point in every season.

This Wednesday the 1st May season ticket holders (abonos) and club members (socios) will have the opportunity to vote for their player of the season.

On entering the stadium for the match versus CD Herbania on Wednesday 1st May at 12 noon club officials will ask the season ticket holders and members who they believe are their three best players of this season.

Three points will be awarded for their best player, two points for the second and a point for their third most favourite player. The player with the most points will become U.D. Lanzarote´s Player of the Season 2023/24 and will win The Nina Player of the Season trophy.

The player who has the honour of becoming Player of the Season 2023/24 will have his trophy presented to him by UD Lanzarote legend Oscar Vladimir (Vladi) along with a club sponsor in front of the fans before the final league match of the season at home to U.S. Yaiza on the 12th May.

We believe that this is the fairest system in which to choose Player of the Season by leaving it to the fans who have been the most likely to have seen the players progress during the campaign. The list of players can be seen here https://mercancialanzarote.com/squad/
