LANZAROTE   1   UD LAS PALMAS B   0

UD Las Palmas B arrived in Lanzarote having won eight of their last nine matches with the other a draw taking them to second spot just three points off league leaders CD Tenerife B with this game in hand.

Understandably the crowd was quite small due to the Champions League matches playing at the same time but the few hundred that did turn up were rewarded with a belter of a game.

The first half may have ended goalless but the quality of football had the fans on the edge of their seats.

In the second half the game began to open up and one did feel that there was going to be a goal.

In the 61st minute Lanzarote came close then two minutes later the league´s top scorer Pau Ferrer had a wonderful opportunity to put Las Palmas in front but his effort from the edge of the box with just the keeper to beat went high over the cross bar.

Ten minutes later and Lanzarote broke from a Las Palmas corner and it was man of the match Ismael Traoré that ran at the Las Palmas defenders before releasing the ball to sub Santi Rosa. The striker took one touch then fired the ball low into the left hand corner from 15 yards to send the Rojillos 1-0 up.

The visitors gave all they had to try and find a goal but the Lanzarote defence remained strong to claim all three points.

Lanzarote remain in fourth spot but have closed the gap to the league leaders to five points with five games remaining. UD Las Palmas B slip to third and U.S. Yaiza continue their incredible season with a 5-0 win over UD Tamaraceite to move into second spot.

The Rojillos play at home this Sunday 21st April at 12.30pm versus 11the placed side CD Marino.
