THE BUCKET LIST BAR IN PUERTO DEL CARMEN

I recently popped in to The Bucket List Bar in Puerto Del Carmen to see UD Lanzarote fans Áine and Natham to thank them for their continued support and sponsorship that they give the club.

As I do, Nathan originates from Jersey in the Channel Isles but he moved with his family at the age of 11 to Ireland and grew up to become a Fire Fighter and also owned a Laundrette whilst, Áine (pronounced Enya to those of you that struggle with Irish names)is from a town called Tralee in County Kerry owned a Café/Wine bar. They had been coming to the island on holidays for years and the dream of living in Lanzarote became top of their Bucket List.

This dream became reality six years ago when they took over Spenders Bar and aptly renamed it “The Bucket List”. Even though the couple are from Ireland it is not really an Irish pub, rather a bar very suitable and welcoming to all nationalities but don’t worry, Guinness is on tap.

As I entered the bar it immediately felt that if I was on holiday, I had just found my local. Around the bar is a beautiful intimate corner with a comfy feeling of knowing that you are in a friendly environment and life is great. If you prefer Al Fresco then you can sit in their comfortable terrace and watch the world pass by whilst listening to the live music which is on Tuesdays and Thursdays 6-8pm.

The couple have also recently opened a new bar in the Fariones square called The Fire House which can hold a larger capacity than the 35 at The Bucket List and is proving equally as successful. The Bucket List is 50 metres up from the main strip in Calle Anzuelo on the turning of the popular DosMil coffee and snack cafeteria.

It is also wonderful to see that this couple also want to put back something into the community. I hadn’t realized but I had spoken to Nathan a few years ago regarding the devastating volcanic eruptions that occurred in the fellow Canarian island of La Palma in 2021. They had loaded their van with essentials including items collected by UD Lanzarote fans to take to La Palma to help ease the pain of those affected. They also work alongside other charities and generously contribute to UD Lanzarote.

If you are visiting Puerto Del Carmen don’t forget to pay their bars a visit. I assure you that the friendliness of Nathan and Áine along with their staff will only better your holiday experience. The Bucket List bar is open Mon-Fri 3pm until last orders at 1am, Saturdays 12 noon until 1am and Sundays 1pm to 1am. The Fire House is open seven days a week from 3pm until last orders at midnight with live music every day from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.
