LANZAROTE   2   CF P.P. SAN MATEO   1

The Rojillos claim all three points and remain in third spot but have closed the gap to league leaders UD Las Palmas B to just one point.

Lanzarote were excellent in the first half and took the lead with Gonzalo Di Renzo in the 17th minute as he rounded the keeper to give his side the advantage.

Javi Martín and León Gómez were in control of the midfield during the first half and it was the latter that extended Lanzarote’s lead deep into stoppage time to give them the 2-0 lead.

The Gran Canarian side have been the best team that Lanzarote have faced at home this season and they had no intentions of giving up.

In the 51st minute they were awarded a clear penalty but Rojillos keeper Alejandro saved superbly. Five minutes later they were given another penalty and made no mistake bringing them back into the game at 2-1.

Just after the hour mark San Mateo were reduced to 10 men as their centre back brought down León Gómez and being the last man was given his marching orders.

Another excellent performance from León Gómez topped off with a goal.

Despite this the visitors kept pressing and will be hugely disappointed flying home without collecting at least a point.

Lanzarote will be delighted with the 3 points especially after such a lackluster performance in the second half.

Next Sunday 19th November Lanzarote travel to Gran Canaria and play Arucas CF at 11am.
