THE ROJILLOS AWAY IN GRAN CANARIA ON SUNDAY

Lanzarote travel to Gran Canaria this Sunday 5th November at 12 noon and face league leaders UD Las Palmas B.

It is certainly a difficult task for Pipa Gancedo´s men as there is a huge buzz around the whole of UD Las Palmas football club.

Their first team were promoted to La Liga last season and had a difficult start going without a win in their opening five games and were well and truly in the relegation zone.

In their next seven matches they won five, including an excellent 2-1 win v Atlético Madrid last night and this has propelled them to joint 7th spot and just one point from the European places.

This outstanding form has rubbed off on their B team as they have won their last six matches and are three points clear at the top.

UD Las Palmas B are full of under 23 year old players and many train with the first team. Every one of those lads wants to be involved in the glory of the first team and play in Spain’s premier division. This dream has become a reality for Lanzarote born player Saúl Coco who has worked his way up from the C team to now a regular in the first.

With all this in mind should the Rojillos win tomorrow they would leapfrog Las Palmas B in the league table. If Lanzarote are to pull off a great victory they are going to have to do it without their top goal scorer Gonzalo Di Renzo as he is suspended for one match for the accumulation of five yellow cards. Fellow striker Santi Rosa also remains sidelined through injury though a return is imminent.

I will be working up the Teguise market tomorrow selling the merchandise so thankfully Nigel and Lorraine will keep you updated with the score in the comments on the post on the Lanzarote football club Facebook page.
