CD UNIÓN PUERTO   2   LANZAROTE   3

In a match where Lanzarote dominated they made hard work for themselves in a nail biting finish.

In the end Lanzarote were reduced to 10 men whilst Unión Puerto went down to 9 following a shocking challenge on Matias in added on time. The culprit saw red and after Matias´s understandable reaction the victim was also given his marching orders.

The Rojillos took the lead in the 12th minute with a headed own goal. The Fuerteventura side levelled with a beauty on the stroke of halftime.

Lanzarote regained the lead with Matias Sosa blasting the ball into the roof of the net in the 55th minute from 20 yards.

The visitors then gave themselves breathing space 10 minutes later with a cracking 25 yard strike from León Gómez to make it 1-3.

In the 71st minute Di Renzo was brought down by the keeper and Union Puerto were down to 10 men as the goalkeeper received a red card.

With 11 minutes remaining the Fuerteventura side were awarded a penalty for handball and Ruymán was sent the wrong way to cut the deficit to 2-3.

Although it was a nervy ending Lanzarote deservedly won all 3 points, however that penalty also cost them second spot to CF San Mateo as they finish the week in third by a solitary goal, though they remain just a point away from league leaders UD Las Palmas B.

Next Sunday Lanzarote are at home versus UD Villa Santa Brigida at the confirmed time of 12 noon.
