LANZAROTE PLAY IN MADRID WEDNESDAY IN THE FEDERATION CUP
The Rojillos are travelling to Madrid today in preparation for tomorrows (27th September) match in the Federation Cup at 8pm local time (7pm Canarian time) against Segunda B side CD Guadalajara. The match is available for free live on this link https://www.cmmedia.es/play/en-directo/tv
By finishing as runners up last season Lanzarote qualified for the Federation cup which is similar to the preliminary rounds of the English FA Cup.
There are 32 teams in the competition and should Lanzarote reach the last four they will be in the draw with a chance of meeting a Primera Liga side though not Real Madrid or Barcelona in the Copa Del Rey.
CD Guadalajara play in the league above from Lanzarote so this is a great opportunity for the Rojillos to test themselves against a good side. It has been a difficult start to the season for the Madrid side having won one and lost two of their three matches played whilst Lanzarote are unbeaten and are sitting in top spot of the Tercera Division (Fifth Tier).
Lanzarote´s manager Pipa Gancedo has a full squad to choose from including the return of Luciano (Chucky) Pierce who has served his one match ban.
Lanzarote were drawn away in this one match knockout fixture but should they win on Wednesday then they will still need to win another two matches though Lanzarote would have a home tie in both games.
It is a tall order for the Rojillos but should they succeed and reach the semi final of the Federation Cup then they would also be in the draw for a big club in the Copa Del Rey 2023/24.
We do not know if there will be a Live stream for this match but if there is I will post details.
