TOURNAMENT PUERTO DEL CARMEN, CF PDC 2016   0   LANZAROTE   9

As indicated by the score line Lanzarote blew away their lower league rivals with crisp passing and lethal finishing and will now play at the same venue at 8.30pm this Saturday 29th July the winners of either CF San Bartolomé or CD Tenerife B who play this evening.

In the 3rd minute the Puerto Del Carmen defence made the grave error of giving last season’s league’s top scorer Di Renzo space and he thrashed the ball home into the left hand corner from the edge of the box. Three minutes later and Di Renzo doubled the lead (0-2). In the 12th minute Di Renzo missed the chance to complete a hat trick when he mishit from only six yards.

In the 20th and 24th minute it was Traoré who was just too sharp for the visitors defence and made it 0-3 then 0-4. New boy Just Rodríguez scored from a cross come shot in the 28th minute to make it 0-5. Bang on the half hour and Captain Ayoze put his name on the score sheet and it was 0-6.

In the 44th minute midfielder Javi Martín waltzed his way through the defence and planted the ball into the far right hand corner to give his side a 0-7 half time lead. As soon as Javi scored he immediately pointed to the sky dedicating his goal to his recently passed grandmother. A minute silence was originally observed prior to kick off.

Both goal scorers. captain Ayoze Pérez (left) with Javi Martín who dedicated his goal to his grandmother who had recently passed.

Rojillos manager Pipa Gancedo gave other players a run for the second half and the only outfield player remaining was Adrián Machín who had ran the PDC defence ragged during the first half creating the first two goals for Di Renzo. The local boy had been moved to a more defensive role so the new manager could test out his new players.

Lanzarote lost that free flowing football in the opening stages of the second period but credit must be given to the home side that kept their heads high and carried on battling. Keeper Alejandro who I can’t recall touching the ball in the opening 45 minutes was forced into a save and the home side struck the post.

As the half progressed so did the quality of football from the Rojillos. In the 70th minute striker Ale Fuentes extended his sides lead to 0-8 and then debutant León Gómez ended the scoring at 0-9 finishing off a good move on the left.

Lanzarote will face much more of a difficult challenge in the final of the tournament Saturday evening at 8.30pm where they will face the winners of tonight’s match CF San Bartolmé or CD Tenerife B both of whom will be league opponents this season.
