LANZAROTE AWAY TOMORROW (23rd April) IN FINAL LEAGUE MATCH
The Rojillos travel to Gran Canaria tomorrow to face bottom club CF Estrella at 12 noon knowing that qualification for the playoffs is already assured but a win would confirm second spot and extend the unbeaten 10 match run.
Congratulations to CD Mensajero who are already Champions and are promoted to RFEF 2 (Fourth Tier). Both UD Lanzarote and UD San Fernando are fighting it out for second and third position but both have already secured a playoff spot.
That leaves two spaces available for a playoff finish and it’s between four teams. The pick of these matches is 7th placed side CF P.P. San Mateo v fourth placed UD Las Palmas B. San Mateo must win to have any chance of finishing in the top five and if they could beat Las Palmas by two clear goals they would leapfrog them however they are still dependant on two other results.
None of this above concerns Lanzarote as they’re only focus is to win and cement second position. CF Estrella are relegated and have little to play for, however in their last two matches they have won one and only lost last week away to league leaders CD Mensajero 2-1 so the Rojillos should expect a fight.
Tomorrow around 2pm Lanzarote will know who they will face in the first of a possible three two legged playoff ties. The playoffs begin next week on the 30th April where Lanzarote will play their first leg away in either Gran Canaria or Tenerife and the following Sunday 7th May will be the return leg in Arrecife.
