LANZAROTE AWAY TOMORROW (Sat 8th) IN GRAN CANARIA AT 12 NOON
The Rojillos travel to Gran Canaria on Saturday 8th April to face playoff rivals CF P.P. San Mateo at midday.
The Gran Canarian side had a very good first half of the season and up until last week had been in the playoff positions however with only one point taken in their last three matches they have slipped to sixth spot but are only one point away from Lanzarote in third.
The teams drew 0-0 earlier in the season so this match is hugely important as the winner will have the advantage if both teams finish level on points as the better team head to head takes priority rather than goal difference. If the game were to be a draw then Lanzarote would have the advantage on goal difference.
The Rojillos have been firing on all cylinders unbeaten in eight matches winning five of those and are the league´s in form side however they will be fully aware that a loss could see them crashing down to 7th position it’s that tight.
There are three matches remaining and Lanzarote trail league leaders CD Mensajero by six points so the La Palma side need just one win and it would then be impossible for Lanzarote to catch them due to the head to head between the sides. Finishing second or third has an advantage in the playoffs as you would play the return leg versus the fourth or fifth side at home.
The last day to vote for Player of the Season is on Sunday at 6pm. If you wish to vote for your top Five players please do on the post pinned to the top of this page Lanzarote football club.
