LANZAROTE AWAY TOMORROW IN LA PALMA AND UPDATE

The Rojillos will have one of their toughest tests of the season tomorrow (Sunday) 20TH February at 12.30pm versus 4th placed side CD Atlético Paso.

The La Palma side is challenging to win the league and gain automatic promotion. They are just three points away from being in that position with three games in hand on their competitors. Recently they went on a run of seven games unbeaten winning five of those matches however they have only taken one point in their last two matches.

Lanzarote have been inconsistent but an away draw with 10 men was followed by last week’s terrific home win and this leaves them in confident mood. The Rojillos are only three points from a playoff position with 11 matches remaining, however they have played three games more than Atlético Paso and Yaiza who both occupy those final two playoff positions. This means that a draw is not good enough and defeat is unthinkable.

The injury list is long. Midfielder Thioub suffered a knee injury last match and tests are still waiting to be carried out though there is hope it’s not as bad as everyone first thought. Rodrigo also suffered a dislocated shoulder in that same match and realistically it seems at least three or four weeks that he will be sidelined.

Striker Pacheco is recovering from Covid but should be fine for next week. Alyson still has a muscular injury but he is getting closer to a return. Bili who debuted last week will have a late fitness test on Saturday to see if he can shake off a knock on the knee. On the plus side Raúl has recovered and is available as is winger Traoré and Keita returns from suspension.
