OTHER SIGNINGS AND UPDATE

This Sunday 5th September at 12 noon the Rojillos will play their first match of the season against Fuerteventura side CD Unión Puerto.

The club has currently 20 players in the squad all of whom are here except the Brazilian Keita. Unfortunately paperwork problems have caused the delay but he is expected to arrive with that huge smile of his next week.

The last two signings were made a couple of weeks ago. 19 year old Brazilian Alyson had been on trial with the club and hugely impressed the management. He is small but what he lacks in height he gains in pace and incredibly quick feet. He is still young and learning but is brimming with confidence and is the sort of player that will at times have you on the edge of your seat.

Defensive midfielder Mouhamed Thioub has also joined the squad. The six foot 2 inch (190cm) Senegalese had spent much of last season as a regular for CD Unión Puerto and has a strong physical presence. The 23 year old will be hoping to be in contention for a starting place this Sunday where he would face his old club.

Three young local lads returned from their loan spell a couple of weeks ago in Sweden with IFK Skovde. Aythami and Julyan are both 21 years of age whilst Adrián Machín is 22. All three have had first team opportunities and all three, without a shadow of a doubt have the ability to become regulars. I have spoken to them about their time in Sweden and they loved every minute of it. It’s a more physical game and after watching them play it is easy to see how they have toughened up and gained match experience.

There is still room for a couple more signings in the squad but manager Mateo García must be delighted with what he has to choose between for the start of the season. Full squad and fixture list please go to www.lanzarotefootball.com
