The Rojillos failed to take full advantage to reduce the six point gap with this rearranged fixture and close in on this all important final playoff position, fourth spot.
Lanzarote now have played an equal amount of games as the teams above them but remain in fifth position and are five points off that fourth place.
The Tenerife side began the better of the two teams and in the 19th minute earned themselves a penalty when Raúl brought down striker Zeben inside the area. Goalkeeper Alejandro who had been reinstated into the starting XI guessed correctly and did very well saving low to his right.
For the remainder of the first half the home side created the better chances but the sides went into the break all square.
Rojillos managerMaxi Barrera brought off Marcos Cabrera and Raúl and introduced the dominating figure of Ayoze Pérez and the talented Uruguayan Gaston Cedrez for the second half.
With the help of these two players and with the introduction of Rosmen midway through the second period Lanzarote dominated as they went in search of the priceless three points.
Alex Cruz (photo) had a couple of chances to win the match but the goalkeeper pulled off some good saves to deny the Rojillo striker and earn his side a point which steers the newly promoted team one point clear of the drop zone.
Lanzarote have had some poor results in December only picking up a solitary point out of the three games played. Before the New Year is done there are two matches remaining both to be played at home.
Neither of these matches will be easy, first up is this Saturday 23rd December at 12.30pm versus CD Santa Úrsula. The Tenerife side also have playoff aspirations and are just one point and one position behind Lanzarote.
The following week on Saturday 30th December also at 12.30pm the Rojillos host SD Tenisca. The side from La Palma are mid table but their manager is Adolfo Pérez who was Lanzarote´s manager for five years and I am sure he will want to win this match against his former club more than beating any other club in this league.
