C.D VERA 0-1 U.D LANZAROTE

CD VERA   0  UD LANZAROTE   1,   12th October 2017,

The Rojillos picked up three golden away points and for the first time this season move into fourth spot which is final playoff position.

Lanzarote began the match similar to the week before coming out with guns blazing and looking for the early lead.

In only the 8th minute a cross from the left wing by Alex Cruz was met by Javi Trujillo who fired home from close range to score his fifth of the season and more importantly to put his side 0-1 up.

A good performance from winger Alex Cruz.

The visitors seemed content to sit back and protect their goal for the remainder of the half and though the home side did mount pressure they didn’t actually threaten the Rojillos goalkeeper Alejandro.

Whilst the temperatures in Lanzarote were reaching 35 degrees due to the calima (sandstorm from the Sahara) in the north of Tenerife it was a comfortable temperature with a cool breeze and perfect for football.

Once again Lanzarote had a good start to the second half and had a couple of good chances to find that second goal to give them breathing space.

That second goal did not come but with a solid back four including a great display by centre back Josito the home side were restricted to long range efforts which were mostly off target.

A man of the match performance from solid defender Josito.

It was a nervous ending for the small but ever increasing away fans that would have preferred their team to be less defensive but manager Maxi Barrera can easily defend his tactics when you come away with all three points in an away match.

Credit to the players at the end of the match who all went over to the Lanzarote fans and applauded them. The Rojillos move up to fourth spot and are only goal difference behind third placed CD Tenerife B whilst CD Vera slip into the relegation positions.

Lanzarote are at home this Sunday 15th October at 12.30pm versus second placed side CD Mensajero. Should Lanzarote beat the La Palma side they will leapfrog them and could possibly be second in the league table come Sunday afternoon.

First round was on the boss after a well deserved 3 points away from home.
